Daisy Jones & The Six - Taylor Jenkins Reid

I've barely started this and I'm already surprised at what I'm hearing.

I hadn't expected to open with parental neglect, statutory rape, and a fifteen-year-old doing cocaine and having sex with men twice her age.

As a record of what was happening at the time, none of this surprises me.

It's just that I've been hearing what a fun book this is.

I assume I haven't got to the fun part yet?

If this is the kind of fun we're going to be given for the rest of the book then I'd reclassify this as honest and heartbreaking rather than slick and fun.
