I'm eleven hours into this twenty-two + hours book and it feels like I've shouldered the weight of disappointment and sadness of the main woman in each of the two timelines.
The pace is slow but doesn't drag. The circumstances are deeply sad without being melodramatic. The women are serious and passionate and strong and have few good choices in front of them.
I find I can only listen to a few hours at a time and then have to take a break. Nevertheless, I'm glad I've found this book and have the time to give it the attention it deserves.
