I liked the idea of giving thanks for books so I decided to attempt:

Task 4:  Show us your 2018 book “harvest” – the books you newly acquired this year, regardless whether bought, received as gift or in whichever other way.

The result was an embarrassingly large number of books. So far this year I've read 136 books. I've bought many more than that. Far too many to offer as a harvest.

So here is my most recent harvest:

I'm embarrassed to say that these twenty-seven books (one of which is an omnibus edition of a trilogy) are what I've acquired in the past thirty days.

I've read five of these books and have one more in progress. My wife has read three more.

I knew I was buying books faster than I could read them but I hadn't realised it had reached this level.

I can't increase my reading much above the level it is now, so, if I'm not simply going to buy books that I'll never read, I have to start resisting the urge to buy. Maybe one new book for every ten read?

I can feel a New Year's Resolution coming on.
