The title made it a fit for Halloween Bingo. The tagline "The serial killer isn't on trial, he's on the jury" made me pick it up in the bookshop.
Cavanagh is a new author for me and I'm diving into this series at book four but so far it's working. His writes with a slick assurance that I find compelling but which makes me feel I should wash my hands after each chapter: getting that close to the cold logic of a well organised serial killer is not comfortable. Climbing inside the mind of an ex-con-artist turned I'll-use-any-trick-that-works lawyer is not much of an improvement. My curiosity will keep me reading, I'll just feel slightly guilty while I do it.
